Always Reading

The “Book Reports” blog talks about complete books I have finished recently, but the books are not the only things I am reading. I read every day, from a variety of sources, and some things stick with me or hit me hard enough that I am compelled to take photos of them to share with other people.

The Bible

I am frequently reading excerpts from the Bible

Sometimes these readings come from the Orthodox Study Bible, which features commentary based on the teachings of the Holy Fathers.

Selected Speeches of HIM Haile Selassie I

One of the other books I read from frequently is the Selected Speeches of Haile Selassie I

Philosophy and Opinions of Marcus Garvey

The Philosophy and Opinions of Marcus Garvey is still a standby on my reading shelf.

Other Readings in Print

Some of my research included other books, outside the Orthodox Tradition, that have commented on the 10 Commandments. By the way, our tradition interprets the commandments as shown on the left.

I have read the lessons in the Empress Menen Foundation calendars

In Church on Sundays (or Saturdays or weekdays), I often read the liturgical service of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Bete Krystian.

And still in this 21st century, pieces of paper get pushed into my hands to read.

In my meditation on the proper order of the house of Ras Tafari, I have been reading the Nyabinghi Guidelines.

I have been reading my wife a book of the teachings of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church

Reading Online

I haven’t only been reading books and papers though, I have also been reading things on Instagram.

Some fascinating readings are sent to me from time to time on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Viber, through groups or direct messages,

In the Sunday school teachers’ group and groups we have for our Church Summer Camp, there are other interesting documents that I read through sporadically

This book is out of print, apparently, but I was able to find excerpts online, and to listen to a reading of one chapter as a sample ebook.
